FiveM Server Status in Discord: Player Count and Join Button

Players want to know whether the server is up and how full it is before they launch the game. There are several ways to show that in Discord. This page compares them honestly, explains why so many status bots report "offline" for a server that is running, and shows how to set it up with Ruination Bots.

Four ways to show your server status in Discord

OptionGood whenWatch out for
txAdmin status embedYou already run txAdmin and only need a status messageFree and built into txAdmin. You create a Discord bot for it that only shows the status
Public status botYou want something on screen in a minuteIt sits in your member list under its provider's name and avatar
Self-hosted scriptYou write code and have a machine that runs around the clockMany scripts poll /dynamic.json or the old Cfx.re host. Both break, see below
Counter in your own botThe same bot should also run tickets, roles, welcome messages and moderationThis is how Ruination Bots does it. Paid after the trial

If all you need is a status message and txAdmin is already running, its built-in embed is a good choice. Ruination Bots makes sense when you want one bot for your whole FiveM Discord, with the status and player count in it, under your server's own name.

Player count in a channel name

The bot renames a voice channel or a category after the current player count, for example 🎮 Players: 87/128. You write the name yourself, with {count} for players and {max} for slots. Members see the number at the top of the channel list without clicking anything.

  • Discord allows two renames of a channel per ten minutes, so the name updates every 10 minutes at most.
  • Before saving, you check the server in the dashboard and see its name and current count.
  • A bot can have up to 7 stats channels, so several FiveM servers work too.
  • When the server is down the channel shows 0 players. For "online" or "offline" in words, use the status message.

Live status message with a join button

A message in a channel you pick, which the bot keeps editing. It checks the server about once a minute. You design two versions, one for online and one for offline, with the same message builder the whole dashboard uses.

PlaceholderBecomes
{serverName}Your server's name from the FiveM server list
{players} / {maxPlayers}Players and slots, such as 87 and 128
{occupancy}How full the server is, in per cent
{joinCode} / {joinUrl}Your join code and the cfx.re/join/… link
{lastChecked}When the bot last checked, as a Discord timestamp
{statusSince}Since when the server has been online or offline
  • A Join button under the message opens cfx.re/join/ with your code. You choose its label, or switch it off.
  • A restart is not an outage. The bot shows "offline" only after the server is missing from two checks in a row, which is two to three minutes.
  • If Cfx.re itself cannot be reached, the message keeps its last known state instead of flipping to offline.
  • One bot can run up to 3 status messages, for example a main and a test server.
  • Optionally, the bot posts an alert in a second channel when the server goes down or comes back, with a role ping if you want one. Alerts are at least 10 minutes apart and capped at 24 a day.

Why FiveM status bots show "offline" for a running server

Two causes come up again and again, and both affect hand-written scripts too:

  1. sv_httpFloodProtectionMany bots poll the server itself at http://<ip>:<port>/dynamic.json. With sv_httpFloodProtection at level 2 or above the server answers Nope., and the bot decides it is offline.
  2. The old Cfx.re hostAlmost every tutorial and wrapper library names servers-frontend.fivem.net. That host is still up, but it answers 404 to every join code, live servers included, which looks exactly like "server offline". The FiveM server browser itself now uses https://frontend.cfx-services.net/api/servers/single/<code>. Checked on 20 October 2026.
To find the current host yourself: load https://servers.fivem.net/, open the serversList-*.js bundle it loads and search it for SINGLE_SERVER_URL.

Ruination Bots never polls your server directly. It reads the public FiveM server list on the current host, so it keeps working with flood protection on.

A join code instead of an IP

You enter only the join code, the part after cfx.re/join/, or paste the whole link. You find it in the FiveM server list or in txAdmin. You expose no IP and open no port.

  • The bot reads only the numbers, players and slots, and the server name. It never reads or stores the names of the players.
  • A server that is not on the public FiveM server list has no join code and cannot be counted.
  • The bot does not show a queue.

Questions

How do I show my FiveM player count in Discord?

With a bot that renames a channel after the count or keeps a status message up to date. In Ruination Bots you only enter your server's join code, with no IP and no code.

How often does the player count update?

The status message about once a minute. The channel name every 10 minutes at most, because Discord allows only two renames per ten minutes.

Why does my status bot say offline when the server is running?

Usually sv_httpFloodProtection, which blocks polling of /dynamic.json, or a bot still using the old host servers-frontend.fivem.net, which answers 404 to every join code.

Do I need my server's IP address?

No. The join code is enough, the part after cfx.re/join/. Your server has to be on the public FiveM server list.

Can I show more than one FiveM server?

Yes. One bot can run up to 3 status messages and up to 7 stats channels.

What does it cost?

You get the whole product for 14 days without a card, once per account and once per Discord server. Afterwards the bot stops, nothing is charged and your setup is kept. Prices are on the home page.
