The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your message concerns a contract with us, and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR otherwise - our legitimate interest in answering the people who write to us. Giving your name is optional; without an email address we cannot reply. Your message reaches our mailbox through our email provider, which acts as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR, and is kept until your enquiry is fully dealt with, then deleted - unless the exchange counts as a commercial or business letter, in which case §§ 257 HGB, 147 AO require it to be kept for 6 or 10 years.
